Marika is a London born and bred award winning actress and spoken word poet. She has been seen on screen as Tanya in the BBC feature film Dustbin Baby (shortlist BAFTA), the face of London in the Expedia Visit Britain Campaign (Gold in Cannes Lions awards), short films and commercials. Marika graduated the University of Cambridge and has since trained with ALT actor training. Marika was a member of the Royal Court Playwriting group and was a Resident Artist at the Roundhouse London 2017-18, where she developed and performed her solo theatre/poetry show ‘ITCH’. Marika has performed her writing at venues such as Camden People's Theatre, Chats Palace, Edinburgh Fringe (where she received an NSDF commendation in acting excellence for her play ‘Mind the Gap’), Sky Garden London, Shaftesbury Theatre, and The Royal Court, as part of the Open Court Festival. Marika has a flare for comic performance, while her writing is informed and inspired by her mixed heritage and the diverse cultural influences of her hometown.
